Plan around the fixtures: multi-match trip ideas
Matches cluster by city and weekend, so a good trip starts with the fixture list. Some combinations that need only one base:
- Opening weekend in Perth: Australia v Hong Kong China on Friday 1 October (18:45 AWST, from US$279) and New Zealand v Chile on Saturday 2 October (13:15 AWST, from US$210), both at Perth Stadium.
- Super Sunday, 17 October: Five pool matches on one day: Italy v Georgia (12:15 AEDT, Newcastle); Ireland v Uruguay (14:45 AEDT, Melbourne); Scotland v Portugal (16:15 AEST, Brisbane); France v Samoa (19:45 AEDT, Sydney); South Africa v Romania (19:15 AWST, Perth). Pick the one in your base city.
- Round of 16 weekend, 23 to 24 October: Sydney Football Stadium, Brisbane Stadium, Docklands Stadium and Perth Stadium each host one match on Saturday and one on Sunday, so a single base gives you two knockout matches. Details on the knockout tickets page.
- Quarter-final weekend, 30 to 31 October: Brisbane Stadium hosts Quarter-Finals 2 and 3 (from US$810 and US$760); Stadium Australia hosts Quarter-Finals 1 and 4 (from US$649 and US$449).
- Semi-finals to the final in Sydney, 5 to 13 November: Both semi-finals, the bronze final and the final are at Stadium Australia: Semi-Final 1 from US$725, Semi-Final 2 from US$725, bronze final from US$210 and the final from US$1,099.

Host city guide: getting there and where to stay
Getting-there details are from the official host-city travel pages. In every city the organisers recommend public transport, cycling or walking, because parking will be limited.
Sydney: 13 matches
Stadiums: Stadium Australia (Accor Stadium) at Sydney Olympic Park and Sydney Football Stadium (Allianz Stadium) in Moore Park. Matches: five pool matches, two Round of 16 matches, two quarter-finals, two semi-finals, the bronze final and the final.
Getting there:
- Stadium Australia: Olympic Park station gives direct access, a short walk from the stadium; regular buses serve the precinct, and ferries run to Sydney Olympic Park Wharf with an onward bus or a longer walk.
- Sydney Football Stadium: the Moore Park light rail stop is within walking distance and connects with Central station. Buses stop on Anzac Parade, Oxford Street and Lang Road, and the walk from Central takes about 25 minutes via Devonshire Street and the Albert "Tibby" Cotter Walkway.
- Parking will be limited at both stadiums. Plan journeys with the Transport for NSW journey planner.
Where to stay: Stadium Australia is about 16 km west of the city centre, while Sydney Football Stadium is close to Central. If your matches are at both, a base in the city centre near Central works for both, because the light rail to Moore Park starts there and direct trains run from Central to Olympic Park for major events. If your trip is built around the semi-finals and final, Sydney Olympic Park has its own hotels within walking distance of Stadium Australia.

Brisbane: 10 matches
Stadium: Brisbane Stadium (Suncorp Stadium, Lang Park) in Milton. Matches: six pool matches, two Round of 16 matches and two quarter-finals.
Getting there:
- Milton and Roma Street are the main train stations for the stadium, about 700 metres and 1 kilometre away. Regular buses serve the surrounding area, and the organisers describe it as a short journey from the city centre via the Caxton Street precinct.
- Event pick-up and drop-off arrangements are still being finalised. Plan journeys with Translink.
Where to stay: Because the stadium is a walk or one train stop from the city centre, any base in the CBD or near Roma Street station works. Staying around Milton or the Caxton Street precinct puts you on foot from the gates.

Melbourne: 8 matches
Stadium: Docklands Stadium (Marvel Stadium). Matches: six pool matches and two Round of 16 matches.
Getting there:
- The stadium is next to Southern Cross station, close to the city centre and the Docklands waterfront. The Bourke Street pedestrian bridge links the station to the stadium.
- Metropolitan and regional trains and airport coaches connect through Southern Cross, trams serve La Trobe Street and Harbour Esplanade, and ferries berth at Docklands (Port Phillip Ferries).
Where to stay: A hotel in the city centre or at Docklands keeps you within walking distance; Southern Cross station also connects to regional trains and airport coaches.

Perth: 7 matches
Stadium: Perth Stadium (Optus Stadium) on the Burswood Peninsula. Matches: five pool matches and two Round of 16 matches.
Getting there:
- The stadium precinct has its own train station and bus station. You can also walk or cycle across the Matagarup Bridge from East Perth or along the Burswood Peninsula paths.
- Accessible parking and pick-up arrangements are still being finalised. Check Transperth for services on the day.
Where to stay: Staying in the city centre or East Perth keeps you a short train ride or a walk over the Matagarup Bridge from the stadium.

Adelaide: 6 matches
Stadium: Adelaide Oval. Matches: six pool matches.
Getting there:
- Adelaide Oval sits beside the River Torrens close to the city centre. Adelaide Railway Station is within walking distance, and the Riverbank Bridge links the city centre and the station to the Oval.
- Trams stop on King William Road and North Terrace, and city buses add further connections.
Where to stay: Almost any hotel in the city centre is within walking distance of the Oval over the Riverbank Bridge.

Newcastle: 4 matches
Stadium: Newcastle Stadium (McDonald Jones Stadium). Matches: four pool matches.
Getting there:
- Broadmeadow is the nearest train station, about 1.5 kilometres from the stadium, with connections along the Newcastle, Central Coast and Sydney corridor. Local buses serve Turton Road and Lambton Road, followed by a walk.
- Event pick-up and drop-off arrangements are still being finalised.
Where to stay: Stay near Broadmeadow station or in central Newcastle. Because Broadmeadow is on the rail corridor to the Central Coast and Sydney, some Sydney-based fans may prefer a day trip; check the timetable for your match day first.
