Wimbledon Resale Tickets: What the Rules Allow, Official Resale and Debentures

Under the AELTC's ticket terms, debenture tickets are the only Wimbledon tickets that may be resold. Ballot, Queue and other tickets cannot be sold, transferred or advertised for sale, and the AELTC says tickets obtained from unauthorised sources are not valid and may be cancelled. If you want a ticket second-hand, there are two routes: the AELTC's own resale of returned tickets, or a debenture ticket bought on the open market.

What Wimbledon's ticket terms say

This is a plain-English summary of the AELTC's Ticket Terms and Conditions for The Championships 2027 (last updated 1 September 2026) and its Ticket Transfer Restrictions page.

  • Debenture tickets can be resold. The terms call them the only category of ticket which may be resold, and the AELTC's debenture page says they can be transferred or sold on the open market.
  • Everything else is non-transferable. Other ticket holders may not resell, try to resell, advertise or otherwise transfer tickets.
  • Guests are the exception. A ticket buyer can pass a ticket to a family member or friend with whom they have a genuine prior relationship, free or for no more than its face value, and must attend with them.
  • Unauthorised tickets can be cancelled. The AELTC says tickets bought through unauthorised channels, websites or social media are not valid and may be cancelled without notice.
  • Debenture listings must say so. A debenture ticket offered for sale must be clearly described as a debenture ticket, and must not be bundled into a package that implies a link with the AELTC or The Championships.

Wimbledon's official resale

Ticket Resale inside the Grounds

Grounds Pass holders can buy returned Show Court tickets at the Ticket Resale kiosk in Parkside, next to No.1 Court, subject to availability. You join a virtual queue in the Wimbledon app by having your myWimbledon QR code scanned at the kiosk, or in the Queue Village if you came through the Queue. Registration runs from 10am and sales from 3pm. In 2026 resale tickets cost £15 for Centre Court and £10 for No.1 Court and No.2 Court, and the proceeds, net of VAT, go to the Wimbledon Foundation, which received £278,000 this way in 2026.

Ticket Return Shop

An online, first-come, first-served sale that the AELTC opens only to people who were unsuccessful in the Public Ballot.

Can't go? Ask for a refund, don't resell

If you hold ballot tickets you can't use, the terms point you to the AELTC's refund policy rather than resale.

Why debenture tickets are different

Debentures are issued by the All England Lawn Tennis Ground plc to fund improvements to the Grounds. Each gives a premium seat on Centre Court or No.1 Court for The Championships for five years, and the AELTC lists being able to transfer or sell on the tickets among the benefits. There are 2,520 Centre Court debentures (2026 to 2030 series) and 1,250 No.1 Court debentures (2027 to 2031 series). Debentures themselves can be bought and sold through a stockbroker or privately; debenture tickets are the individual day seats. More in our debenture tickets guide.

What to check before you buy a resale Wimbledon ticket

  1. The word "debenture". The listing should say it is a debenture ticket and name the court (Centre Court or No.1 Court) and the day. A resale listing for any other Wimbledon ticket is in breach of the terms.
  2. Who the seller is. Look for a named business with contact details, a published guarantee and independent reviews.
  3. The total price. Check whether the price is per person, how many seats sit together and whether fees are added at checkout.
  4. Delivery. Ask how and when the ticket reaches you.
  5. Rain and cancellation. Under the AELTC's refund policy, rain refunds on debenture tickets go to the registered debenture holder, and other buyers are told to contact whoever sold them the ticket. Read your seller's terms.
  6. "Official" claims. Official hospitality is sold by Keith Prowse. Be wary of anyone else presenting a package as official or endorsed by Wimbledon.
  7. Entry rules. Bring original photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence. Children under 5 can't enter the Show Courts.

Wimbledon resale tickets FAQ

Can you buy Wimbledon tickets on resale?

Only debenture tickets. The AELTC's ticket terms make debenture tickets the only category that may be resold. Other Wimbledon tickets cannot be sold or transferred, except to a guest, and the AELTC can cancel tickets obtained from unauthorised sources. This is a summary of the terms, not legal advice.

Does Wimbledon have an official resale?

Yes. Grounds Pass holders can buy returned Show Court tickets at the Ticket Resale kiosk inside the Grounds from 3pm (£15 for Centre Court and £10 for No.1 Court and No.2 Court in 2026), and unsuccessful ballot applicants may be offered the online Ticket Return Shop.

Can I resell my Wimbledon ballot tickets?

No. If you cannot use them, the AELTC points you to its refund policy. You may pass a ticket to a family member or friend as your guest, for no more than face value, and you must attend with them.

Why can Wimbledon debenture tickets be resold?

Debentures are issued to fund improvements to the Grounds, and the AELTC lists the right to transfer or sell on the tickets among the benefits for debenture holders. The ticket terms make debenture tickets the only category that may be resold.

How do I know a ticket is a debenture ticket?

The AELTC requires debenture tickets offered for sale to be clearly described as debenture tickets. Check that the listing says so and names the court, Centre Court or No.1 Court, and the day.

Who gets the refund if rain stops play?

Under the AELTC's refund policy, rain refunds on debenture tickets go to the registered debenture holder. If you bought your ticket from someone else, the AELTC tells you to contact the seller, so check the seller's terms before you buy.
